We’re looking for an ambitious, grounded builder to join BettrLife at the very beginning and take a leading role in shaping its technical foundation.
This is not a role where you’ll step into an established engineering team, existing architecture or predefined roadmap. You’ll be there from the start, working hands-on, directly alongside the founders, with a real voice in how the product, technology and company take shape.
We’re looking for someone who:
You’ll work closely and directly with us, BettrLife’s two female founders, and be one of the first people shaping the company from the ground up.
There are no layers between you, the founders, the product and our users. We’ll think together, challenge each other, make decisions and turn those decisions into something real.
For our first team, we are deliberately hiring builders. People who want to create, test, learn and take real ownership while the foundations of the company are still being formed.
We’re looking for smart, driven people who have the courage to be authentic, challenge ideas when needed and care deeply about creating something that matters.
This is a hands-on and leading role. You won’t just help decide what the product should become. You’ll be one of the people turning that vision into reality and driving the technical side forward.

Over time, this role can naturally grow with the company. We want someone who is excited not only about what BettrLife is today, but about helping shape what it can become.
You’re joining BettrLife at the stage where your contribution can genuinely shape the company, and we want the opportunity to reflect that.
Real ownership. You’ll have meaningful influence over the product, technical direction, architecture and the engineering culture we create from the beginning.
Direct access to the founders and users. No layers and no endless chain of approvals. You’ll work closely with the founders, talk to users, see what works and help decide where we go next.
Meaningful equity. This is an early-stage role with real responsibility and impact, and we believe that should come with real ownership in the company.
Compensation as we grow. We’re currently pre-funding and preparing for our first capital raise, which we aim to complete within the next six months. This role is initially equity-based. Once funding is secured, a competitive salary will be added on top of your equity. The exact timing will depend on the raise, so we want to be transparent about that from the start.
A role that can grow with you. As BettrLife grows, so can your responsibility and leadership within the company. You’ll also have the opportunity to help shape the engineering team around you.
The opportunity to start at the beginning. You won’t inherit years of technical decisions or a finished product. You’ll help determine what BettrLife becomes and create the foundations others will one day work from.
Flexible, with a strong interest in candidates based in New York or within US East/Central time zones.
That said, geography is not a hard requirement. If you’re based in Belgium, Ghent, elsewhere in Europe, that allows for meaningful overlap with US working hours, we’d equally love to hear from you.
BettrLife is being built for the US market, with New York as an important early testing ground. At the same time, part of our founding team is based in Belgium, so being able to spend meaningful time together in person there can be equally valuable.

We’re looking for a good person first, with high standards, high potential and the drive to create something meaningful.
You are first and foremost a builder.
You can take an imperfect product idea, challenge it intelligently and turn it into something users can actually test, fast.
You combine strong technical fundamentals with product instinct. You don’t hide behind architecture discussions when something could be tested this week, but you also know when a shortcut will create a serious problem later.
You should be comfortable building AI-native products: LLMs, agents, structured data, memory, orchestration, APIs and modern application infrastructure.
We care much more about what you can build and how you think than whether OpenAI, Anthropic, Google or another famous company appears on your résumé.
You genuinely want to spend years solving this problem, not simply work on an interesting AI project.
You understand software beyond prompting and vibe coding. AI should make you dramatically faster, but when AI-generated code breaks, you understand what is happening underneath.
You naturally think in experiments, iterations and working software. You can move from idea to prototype to user feedback quickly.
You care deeply about what the user experiences. When we describe a feature, you ask questions about behavior, edge cases, trust and what problem we are actually solving.
You can explain technical choices and trade-offs in plain English. You collaborate rather than becoming the technical bottleneck. You are charismatic and can inspire a team to deliver their best work for you.
Early-stage ambiguity energizes you. You see a problem and take responsibility for solving it rather than waiting for specifications.
